I never had pony beads but in my understanding pony beads are intended to be used in lace for bracelets, necklaces, etc. Perler beads are not round like rosary beads, they are straight cut, and will create different patterns on the template and fuse them with an iron into 1 uniform creation.

When the mixture is beginning to dry, the same sponge is used to rub the metal with smoothness, so that the salt is dragging the remains of dirt. When they have been descaled, it eliminates the rest of the mixture with a cloth or rag until the surface is totally clean.
