In 1953, the German chemist Karl Ziegler developed polyethylene, and in 1954 the Italian Giullio Natta created polypropylene, the two most widely used plastics today. The first plastic bags for bread, snacks, fruit and vegetables were introduced in the United States in 1957.

Originally, plastic bags were created as an alternative to paper bags, since the massive felling of trees involved was extremely harmful to the environment. The author of this invention was the Swedish engineer Sten Gustaf Thulin, who in 1959 found that his bags were considerably stronger than paper bags. This meant that, in principle, they could be used again and again.
What plastic bags are made of
As we already know, a garbage bag is a disposable bag used to dispose of waste. These bags are placed in waste garbage cans and waste containers to avoid staining. When the bag is full, it can be easily closed, so that the person has minimum contact with the waste.
