Which containers can be recycled
The Tupperware name is deeply tied to the concept of plastic containers for the kitchen and home. As environmental awareness grows among consumers, it was unveiled that Tupperware is teaming up with Eastman to expand its portfolio of products made from sustainable materials.
Tupperware introduced ECO+ for the first time in 2019 with a new material comprising mixed plastic waste that would otherwise be destined for incineration or landfill. The use of this initial circular material has resulted in the elimination of more than 100 tons of CO2 emissions.
ECO + has expanded to include a line of products made from a variety of sustainable, recycled, bio-based and environmentally preferred materials. The current product portfolio includes ECO + Straw Set, ECO + To-Go Cups and now the new ECO + Lunch-It Containers and Sandwich Keepers.
That can be put in the yellow garbage can
Throwing away a plastic container that is no longer useful for carrying food to work or for storing food in the refrigerator, because it is at risk of becoming contaminated or migrating plastic components, contributes in a particularly serious way to the pollution of the environment. The reason for this is that plastics are one of the most difficult types of waste to degrade and rarely degrade naturally, but require combustion, with the emission of numerous highly toxic nitrogen compounds.
Here comes into play the lid of the lid, especially if they are of beautiful and flashy colors, since we can use them as a surface where to place glasses and cups so that they do not leave a circle and receive the possible tears of liquid.
With the same technique we can mount a lamp that rests on a table giving color and warmth. It will be enough to us with a little skill and aesthetic sense at the moment of choosing the diode or of decorating the cap to obtain a wonderful ambient lamp.
Tupperware recycling
This plastic works well as an aroma barrier, providing good protection for food packaging. It is waterproof, unbreakable, glossy and lightweight, and can be presented in both rigid and flexible forms. It has good temperature resistance, so that hot products can be packaged in polypropylene containers.
Polypropylene is produced from petroleum or natural gas by a polymerization process. These polymers are solid thermoplastics that can be processed by extrusion and by molding or injection molding.
Most modern PP production processes have no liquid or gaseous effluents. Being 99% carbon and hydrogen, which are harmless and abundant in nature, PP is chemically non-polluting.
PP contains energy comparable to fossil fuels, making PP waste an excellent alternative for use as a fuel to produce electricity and heat.
How to recycle leftover food
If you are one of those who like to take food from home to work or when you go to your parents’ house, you always end up taking a tupper with food, you may be interested in knowing when it is time to throw away a plastic tupper and buy a new one.
Like all kitchen utensils, plastic lunch boxes do not last forever in optimal conditions, for this reason it is important to know when a tupper should pass to better life.
There is no rule that says when is the right time to throw away plastic tupperware. The life of plastic containers will depend on the quality of the material and the use you have given it. But as a general rule a good time to throw away a tupper is when it becomes deformed or cracked.
Plastic lunch boxes are made of polypropylene, a material that makes them very resistant, but not immortal. Therefore, there are different aspects that you should look at to know when it is time to throw away your old tupperware.
If you notice that your lunch box has cracks or scratches on its surface, start thinking about throwing it away, as these cracks, no matter how fine they are, will serve as breeding grounds for bacteria that will damage the quality of the food you put in it.
