Refrigerant liquid is consumed
2070 Estimated date by which the ozone hole would be completely closed, should the eradication of ODS use in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry be achieved.
“The refrigeration industry has always been in constant development. Currently, what we can perceive is a great movement in the direction of new technologies that increasingly promote the energy efficiency of systems and add environmental benefits. An alternative way to measure the impact of refrigerants in the atmosphere is a new concept, called Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI, for its acronym in English), which is a more complete analysis of the system, the measurement of GWP. The TEWI is measured by the mass of the total equivalent of CO2 resulting from the sum of the direct impact generated by a refrigerant fluid leakage in the system, and also the indirect impact generated by the CO2 emitted in the production of electricity needed to power equipment, which corroborates the trend to consider energy efficiency and environmental impacts of all products in the HVAC sector, “says Mauricio P. Xavier, business manager of DuPont Fluorochemicals for Latin America.
Antifreeze Leak Sealer
In the production of synthetic esters, fatty acid obtained chemically from native oils is specifically reacted with a similar derivative of natural origin or a synthetic alcohol. In this way, the chemical composition and degree of purity can be precisely controlled. Synthetic ester oils, like native vegetable oils, contain no mineral oils and are biodegradable, but are generally much more durable and potent.
The United States Department of Agriculture awards the “USDA BioPreferred®” seal specifically per product. Many HYCUT products – here HYCUT CF 21 – are certified by the USDA as bio-based products.
All cutting and grinding oils in the HYCUT family are based on synthetic ester oils. They offer extremely high lubrication performance and thus significantly reduce tool wear. By using saturated synthetic ester oils the products become very resistant to aging. This ensures long service life. In addition, the high cleaning power of synthetic oils ensures clean machines and components, and especially in grinding, maintains an exceptionally good residue removal capacity.
Coolant leaks but does not heat up.
When this happens, the coolant can become very corrosive. Others believe that a vehicle coolant does not need to be reddened, but simply topped off. Similar to an automobile’s oil, coolant will break down over time. If left unmaintained, old or faulty coolant can wear out the engine or cause corrosion.
An owner’s manual may recommend changing the coolant/antifreeze after the first 60,000 miles, then every 30,000 miles. But the coolant change recommendation is very different from car to car, as some car models do not recommend changing it for more than 120,000 miles.
Instead of opening the radiator cap, simply check to see if the fluid reaches the “Full” line on the side of the coolant reservoir shown here. It is part of the coolant recovery system. If the fluid does not reach the “Full” line, open the bottle and add a 50/50 mixture of water and coolant until it does.

If you are due for an overhaul (mileage or maintenance interval set by the manufacturer), anticipate it. With the beginning of the bad season, discounts and “winter special” packages abound in garages and car centers. Take advantage of them! A bill of a few tens of euros will save you a lot of trouble when winter arrives. If an overhaul is not necessary, check the crucial points to check before facing the winter: the state of the battery, the wear of the tires (without forgetting the spare tire), and a look at the entire braking system (brake pads and discs). These three points are essential for your safety.
In winter, the windshield gets dirty much more quickly, due to water and dust splashing on the windshield, and even salt on roads without frost. Therefore, it is advisable to maintain a supply of fluid for your safety. Opt for antifreeze windshield washer fluid. It only freezes at -30°C, compared to 0°C for traditional fluids. You can be sure it won’t freeze overnight if you leave the car outside.
