That’s the main characteristic of Zeitgeist, that of throwing super vomit. Only in his case, his fluids are so powerful that they can melt a six-inch steel plate in less than 30 seconds…In this era of modern cinema in which comic book heroes have become the main source of “ideas” for the big studios, there are not so many characters left that can transcend the pages of the comic book to have their own movie. However, after being surprised by the outcome of the Ant-Man solo movie, we took a look into the world of DC Comics and Marvel to find out about “superheroes” who… we pray to the heavens of producers… never make the leap to have their own film. Plastic Man, the most powerful being in the DC Universe appears to be the perpetrator of a murder and must reveal the truth if he wants to remain part of the Justice League. This week, we review one of the funniest volumes of this Salvat collectible thanks to the work of Kyle Baker.

The figure of Plastic Man within the DC universe is that of a rather peculiar character. For those less versed in the universe, Plastic Man can be paired with Elongated Man, the so-called “Ralph” Dibny, another character who stretches and solves crimes, but Plastic Man has subtle differences that make him very different from Dibny and any other character who stretches.

Plastic Man was relatively popular in the golden age of comics, until 1956, where his publishing house called Quality Comics had to close due to low sales associated with the hunt American comics were suffering because of the book The Seduction of the Innocent. However, Plastic Man would survive the cancellation thanks to the purchase of the assets of Quality Comics by National Comics Publications -now known as DC Comics- where he would be incorporated into that universe and would share stories with Superman or Batman, in addition to starring in a couple of collections where humor and crime solving were his personal trademark.
